The story Pardoner’s Tale has several moments of irony in the story. But what is irony? Irony is when something is said in a story but is meant to be taken a complete different way. The three types of irony that i will be describing in this blog are killing death, seeking death, and greed. 

The first irony in the story they talk about killing death. The quote from the story is, “And we will this traitor Death , I say!” The ironic part about what they say is that you can not kill death. They are trying to kill death because of how horrible of a thing it is. But later in the story that changes. 

The second form of irony in the story is Seeking death. One of the character says, “ A pile of golden florins on the ground, New-coined, eight bushels of them as they thought. No longer was it Death those fellows sought.” The ironic thing about that quote is that now that they found all this money they are no longer looking for death. But we now from the story that something terrible happens to them at the end of the story.

The third and last irony in the story is greed. One of the three guys says, “Nevertheless, if i could shape things thus so that we shared it out-the two of us-Wouldn’t you take it as a friendly act?” The really meaning of this quote from the story is that the main character of the story is greedy. What is ironic about the quote is that it is saying the exact opposite of what the main character really is. But we all now that from story that what they were looking for in the begging of the story is going to come back on them. 

At the end of the story we find out that all three of the guys die because of greed. They all wanted the money and were all looking to kill the other two guys to have the money to them self. The story affected the reader by showing them that not everything that someone says means exactly what they said.

Pygmalion Themes

In Pygmalion there are several different themes throughout the book. In this blog  I am going to talk to you about two different themes that stud out to me. With one of those themes I will be relating to my life. The two themes that will be discussed in this blog are “ language and communication” an the other one is “appearance.” 

The theme that came to me first was “appearance.” To me it means that you have to dress a certain way to be a part of particular social circumstances. Everybody today in society is worried about how people look at them and judge them. I personally believe that it should not matter what you wear are how you look. Todays any time you go out in public you are getting jugged by everybody an if people would stop doing that society would be a lot more friendlier. 

The reason why i chose this next theme because it ties in with “appearance.” The theme i chose was “language and communication.”  They go together because people think if you dress a certain way you should speak a certain way. Witch is not true because you can dress nice are in rugged clothes and still speak proper.

    To me that those are two big problems in everyday life. I see people do it every day and i try my best not to do it but its hard. Over all i think everyone needs to work on this 

  I hope you are ready to take a little journey with me on my life plans. I will be telling you about my plans while I am a senior in high school, then my plans after high school, and my career goals. This should be a fun journey for you and me so you can learn a little about me. I hope you in joy so lets get started. 

My goals for my senior year are pretty high but I believe I can do it. I am planing on graduating mid year and starting college right behind it. The hardest part for me will be trying to keep my grades up in all my class with having a learning disability. I am going to try my hardest to graduate high school with A, B honor roll. Enough about my school plans. I also plan on getting better at polo and playing a lot more in the games. I think it is time to move on to my plans for after high school.

The goals I have for myself after I graduate are, go to a local two year college then transfer to a university and get my degree in equine veterinarian. How I plan on doing this is by getting two of the degrees at a local college to get the hang of it then move. I know already that it will be a hard degree to go for. I am looking at close to eight years of school. I think I can stick it out and get that degree if I try hard.

The career choice and what I would like to do for the rest of my life will all was be around horses somehow. I plan on later after I graduate to come back home and work for a local clinic then opening one of my own. I hope to be able to still play polo and show horses even though I will be a veterinarian. Thats my life goal and I believe it is the right choice for me. Some people may say I need to set my goals lower but I believe you should get in a career you love.

Now you know my life plans and I hope this makes you think about your plans. Their are me options in life and the ones I have chosen I think will make me happy every day.
